Tunneling

Nowadays the trains pass through the city of Delft in the Netherlands on top of a noisy viaduct that with only two tracks where four tracks are badly needed. It also constitutes a major obstacle; cutting the city in two.

In a near future trains will pass the city  through a tunnel (of course they also stop there). Building has been going on for a few years now. So it was a good idea to offer the public an opportunity to go down and see for themselves what was and is going on.

The old station and the tunnel works in full swing.

Inside the tunnel in front of the old station. This is where the new station will be.

The south part of the tunnel is "almost" finished. They use a module for pouring the concrete for the walls .

Yes on the "open day" there is also a contest for photographers.....

As you can see there is still a lot to do.....

Tunnel abstracts

The light was good and I happened to see some nice "tunnel abstracts". Different structures,  shadows, the "stil life" here and there.  Just to look at.

The rear side of a mold for concrete walls.

An empty bucket.

Shadows and a hole.

Concrete mesh.

Construction supports.

Red and rusty.

Somehow it did remind me of an Egyptian temple....
